FUTURIAMO. SHAPING TOMORROW
Established in 2021, with the endorsement of the Municipality of Milan and Municipio 7, “Futuriamo. Shaping Tomorrow” launched the program “A Scuola di comunità” in the neighbourhood, initiating a dialogue with young people about social and ecological transition, with the aim of raising awareness about their own future and that of their city.
An educational and workshop-based journey in collaboration with the Istituto Comprensivo San Giuseppe Calasanzio, led by an exceptional teacher who guided the students in creating drawings that illustrated their representation of values such as inclusion, sharing, the appreciation, and respect for public spaces. Together with Blasco Pisapia, a renowned storyboard artist, screenwriter, and Disney Italy and Panini Comics illustrator, the students delved into the language of comics to transform their thoughts and ideas into contemporary art.
“Futuriamo. Shaping Tomorrow” is created with the purpose of involving children and young people, the true protagonists of tomorrow, in the process of building a sympathetic and cohesive community. This is achieved through the co-creation of artworks that demonstrate how caring for public spaces can enhance the entire neighbourhood’s quality of life.
A project of play, exploration, reflection, and lively creative participation, that allowed the young people to translate important values such as participation, sharing, identity, beauty, a sense of belonging, and active citizenship into images and colours through artistic expression.
The first edition concluded in November 2021 with a true street art event: about 100 metres (1,000 square feet) of the perimeter wall surrounding the Ex Trotto Milano project area were adorned with drawings from the classes of Monte Baldo Elementary School and a mural created by the students of Gaetano Negri Middle School in Milan.
An open-air museum on via degli Aldobrandini that narrates the future and the sense of community as seen through the eyes of children.
With the intention of making the experience even more shared and participatory, the second edition of the “Futuriamo. Shaping Tomorrow” project concluded in 2022 with the reproduction of the via degli Aldobrandini mural also on the inner walls of Gaetano Negri Middle School.
